Ray's Verdict
After a phone call to Shakespeare backed Dave Britton who's opinion I hold in very highly, I made the trip to my local tackle emporium and ordered one for myself. I was very surprised at what you get for your £90.00, not only do you get a very well finished Rod but it came with 2 Rod Straps and a carry case, great value for money, now it was time to put it through it's paces. That weekend I ventured of to Willowcroft fishery to fish a twenty peg open on one of the new match lakes that had recently opened. The quarry were stockies between 1 & 5lb so this was the perfect chance to see what all the noise was about. I drew a peg which was just over 20m to the far bank, with fish showing in large numbers, my anticipation grew larger by the minute, and I wasn't disappointed. Fishing a 4lb reel line, with a 2AAA pellet waggler tight to the far bank, I proceeded to put a run of 1lb plus carp into my net, this was too easy but then the fact hit me "what a superb rod" It cast the small waggler easily to the desired location with finesse, when I hit into the fish it produced a flawless curve, responding to every lung and run with an authority well beyond it's price tag. Even when the odd better stamp fish put in an appearance the rod responded perfectly, 51 small carp, for 69lb 10oz and not a single bumped fish, I was well impressed. This Rod really comes into it's own on bagging waters, where the fish are in the 4 - 7lb category. I was privileged enough to watch Keith Taylor, a very old master at work at Boddington reservoir putting one of his Mach 3 Micro's through it's paces. I watched Keith land a steady run of hard fighting 5lb plus carp, at no point did the rod look under gunned for the job it was being used for, every run was met with a response from the rod which made controlling the fish a much easier task.
When I asked Keith his opinion of the Shakespeare Mach 3 micro 11ft, he said it had a " light, crisp, slim blank and the perfect action for the job in hand and less than £100, eleven foot of perfection in my opinion. The handle is the perfect length for moving the rod around the body, yet still long enough to punch a 4 swan pellet waggler 35-40 yards, but the rod is delicate enough to cast a 2AA waggler 15-18 yards.Fish of 1lb or 10lb are no problem on this little beauty and the action is very forgiving, but keeps control at all times with no lock up. I JUST LOVE THEM..... I've got two!

This Mach 3 Micro has taken the commercial carp scene by storm over the past year or so. With the pellet wiggler becoming the in method on many of the countries top commercial fisheries, the need for a mid priced rod that would appeal to the club and serious match alike was needed. Through posts on various fishing forums the word got about that Shakespeare had come up with the perfect solution, the Mach 3 Micro.
