Matchbox have built an impeccable reputation for quality seat boxes over the past decade, the huge success of the Pyramid System over the past 5 years was a hard act to follow but the Birmingham based company have definitely come up trumps with their newly released S - Class Range of Seat Boxes

Now on first impressions you may say "but that's the old Pyramid System" but you would be wrong, with a larger foot print, new frame system which gives you extra room for access to side draws, the all new foot plate mechanism which allows quick and easy set up and a larger capacity, this is a totally different box altogether.
I was Lucky enough to get my hands on one in February, so after 14 weeks of abuse I feel I can now give a valid and factual review on the new S - Class SC1
Comfort & Stability
This is a very comfortable box which is very easy to set even on the worst of pegs, simply lift the foot plate, swing away from the box and push into place, there are 2 retaining nuts which you simply tighten and job done. Now on an uneven peg it's just as simple, all the legs are telescopic so starting from the back legs work your way forward and adjust as necessary, to guarantee you are spot on the S - Class Range incorporates a Spirit Ball just under the seat which will tell you if you've got it spot on, get the level right and you'll find the box both very stable and robust, lets face it if it can hold my fully grown frame [16 stone plus] then it can't be that bad.
Storage
The 50mm Cross Draw is more than ample to carry all the tackle accessories you permanently need close at hand, with 2 removable 25mm trays, you can play around and make the important things easy to get your hands on. Under the seat there are 2 winder tray which each hold 14 winder each [which are supplied] The trays have an external sponge padded bottom which in conjunction with the sponge padding directly under the seat guarantees the safe transport of your precious rigs.
S -Class Matchstax System
Even the most notorious tackle tart out there will have to admit these are excellent. unclip 2 catches, one either side of the box, lower down, slide of the retaining pins and remove, simple. Once removed from under the Main Box you now have access to all your accessories like Feeders, Leads, Spare Spools, floats, Catapults etc. This is the first modular system box I have ever used and I now realise what I've been missing out on for years. No more jumping off the box, digging around in a base unit for spare feeders etc, lift a lid and they're there, Excellent!!
Verdict
I've found the Matchbox SC1 Complete System a joy to use, very comfortable, light and easy to carry, very stable even with the legs extended and above all strong. The new Foot Plate System design is superb in it's simplicity. The extra space around the side draw created by the new frame design makes it possible to have attachments on all 4 legs and still be able to remove the cross draw.
All in all a well designed, well manufactured box, the complete system will cost you only £299.00, with value for money like that it will find it's way onto many an anglers barrow and many a peg this year.
