CC Moore & Co Ltd Meteor Session Pack

CC Moore's range of boilies (and other baits) are held in high regard in both the carp and specialist areas of angling, and with boilies becoming the de-facto standard bait for the specimen fish in modern times, there is very little difference between the rigs and baits used on both lakes and rivers.

The Meteor baits are one such boilie range that has become a firm favourite with both the carp and the specialist anglers in pursuit of the largest fish.

For this review, CC Moore have kindly sent over one of their Meteor Session Packs which contain enough bait for at least one session (as the name implies) and gives the angler the choice of baits in smaller quantities than if they had purchased the separate items in the range. These Session Packs are perfect for the angler that wants to try a new bait but does not want to spend a lot of money buying the products separately in larger quantities.

The Meteor boilies are a red in colour and have a texture that allows for the bait to remain firm in the water, resisting the attention of smaller silver fish, but also allows the attractors within the baits to leak out into the water. The Meteor has a very meaty aroma which reminds me of a low spiced sausage and should attract the Barbel angler straight away, as well as the fish themselves. The mix includes liver, meat proteins, yeasts, haemoglobin, hydrolysed animal proteins and Robin Red, with a flavour blend of Liquid Liver, Red Venom, Frankfurter, Scopex, Hydrolysed meat proteins, liquid yeasts and active enzymes all wrapped up in a highly water soluble package. In the Session Bucket, CC Moore provide a 1KG bag of 14mm shelf life baits in a very handy resealable bag which virtually eliminates any risk of finding all your boilies spilled everywhere in transit (as well as keeping them fresh if any remain after a session).

As mentoned the Session Packs contain products from the rest of the range, and include matching pop-ups. The pop-ups are supplied in 14mm size and are almost identical to the actual boilies, other than they are bouyant. During our preliminary testing, the pop-ups were placed in a bowl of water for 5 days, and two rigs where used - one where the bait is pierced using a needle, and the other with a tied on bait. Both baits after 5 days where still bouyant, and the pierced bait lay very slightly lower in the water, but was still bouyant. The included tub in the Session Bucket contains 20 baits, which is more than enough for a session, and probably would last the average angler at least 3 or 4!

3KG of matching feed pellets are also included in the bucket. The pellets are best suited to introduction by PVA bag, spod/bait dropper or hand due to the non-uniform shape of the finished pellet. The Meteor pellets are 5mm in diameter and have a rapid breakdown time of around an hour in cold water and are a light red/pink in colour. On breakdown, the pellets leave a nice pile of "dust" on the bottom, which will generate a cloud in the water should a fish swim over it or start rooting around amongst the baits.

The last product in the Session Pack is 125ML of the Meteor Bait Dip. The Meteor Bait Dip is formulated using the same liquid attractors as are found in the boilies. The dip will no melt PVA so is perfect for dipping bags into for additional attraction especially in cold water conditions or where you do not want to feed a lot but still put attraction into the water, as well as glugging hookbaits in. The viscosity of the bait dip is just enough to stick to a dipped bait but not too thick that it will not leak off in the cold.

Final Thoughts

The CC Moore Meteor range certainly ticks the box for both the carp and specialist angler. For the angler that likes to fish for a multitude of species, then this bait could be the answer that they have been looking for as it is equally as effective for a number of species especially carp and barbel. The bait just literally screams "fish" at you when you first smell it and I know that I would be as equally confident in using it as my only bait if given a choice.

Obviously we reviewed the products in the Session Pack, which has a RRP of £23.49 including a reusable bucket that would sell for several quid on it's own in the shops, but the products are available individually from CC Moore or their stockists. The boilies are available in both shelf life and freezer versions and he base mix and attractors are identical in both.

UKMA highly recommend that you check out this bait and others in the CC Moore inventory if you are looking for a change of bait.

We have a feature utilising the Meteor baits on the site by CC Moore angler, Stuart Court which can be found by clicking HERE.
