CC Moore & Co LtdMeteor RangeCC Moore's range of boilies (and other baits) are held in high regard in both the carp and specialist areas of angling, and with boilies becoming the de-facto standard bait for the specimen fish in modern times, there is very little difference between the rigs and baits used on both lakes and rivers.
The Meteor from CC Moore has been part of the range for a couple of years now and has built up a following from both the carp and the specialist angler. The Meteor falls into the category of being a true all-season bait so the angler will not need to consider changing baits once the cold weather starts to set in or when the weather starts to warm up in Spring. The Meteor has a very meaty aroma which reminds me of a low spiced sausage and should attract both the Barbel and Carp angler straight away, as well as the fish themselves. The mix includes liver, meat proteins, yeasts, haemoglobin, hydrolysed animal proteins and Robin Red, with a flavour blend of Liquid Liver, Red Venom, Frankfurter, Scopex, Hydrolysed meat proteins, liquid yeasts and active enzymes all wrapped up in a highly water soluble package. The aroma that comes off the baits when the bag is opened can be only described as being "marmite" and anglers will either love it or hate it, but without any shadow of a doubt, it smells extremely "carpy". The make-up of the Meteor lends itself perfectly to being matched with glugs outside of the dedicated named range, so the angler can use the bait system together or include other attractors to give the angler their own unique blend. The red colouration of the boilies comes from the Robin Red and on presured waters, does not stick out like a sore thumb over the majority of substrates.. During our tests, we found that the Meteor requires no pre-baiting to catch fish. The Meteor boilies are available in the regular sizes (10mm, 15mm, 18mm) and in a wide variety of pack sizes (1kg - 250kg!). Dumbell shaped baits are also available in the range. As you would expect from CC Moore, the Meteor range also includes a serious range of supplementary products to compliment the chosen baits.
All anglers are using pop-ups with the trend for todays rigs to be targeted towards them, and a very bouyant pop-up is probably the number one hookbait used over a season. To cater for the rigs that anglers are using currently, CC Moore have included airball pop-ups into the range. The Airball popups can be used both on a normal hair or tied on with floss to keep the bait above the deck. The Airball pop-ups can be enhanced by glugging in the matching bait dip, but please be aware that this may affect the bouyancy of the baits and each bait should be tested before being cast out. We have used unglugged 14mm Airball baits and they have kept a size 7 Atomic Chodda hook on a chod rig up for at least 24 hours. The Airball pop-ups are available in 14mm (50 baits) or 18mm (35 baits) sizes at a RRP of £5.99 per tub. Hardened hookbaits are also available for the angler that may be fishing a venue that contains crayfish or lots of small silver fish, that may whittle a standard bottom bait away in next to no time. The hardened hookbaits are harder than the standard boilies but are still piercable with a safety barb type needle (please take care when using a needle on hardened baits) or if preferred, a bait drill. The hardened hookbaits are available in 14mm or 18mm sizes at a RRP of £5.49 per tub.
The Bait Dip has a RRP of £5.75 per 250ml.
The Meteor pellets are available in a wide range of weight quantities with 1kg costing £3.99, 3KG £9.99, all the way upto 20KG costing £44.99
You can top up the glug in the tubs by using neat Meteor bait dip/glug or mixing the dip with Feedstim XP to create the ultimate in fish attraction. We suggest that the dip be added to the tub a few days before you intend to go on the bank to allow time to be absorbed by the baits. The glugged hookbaits are available in a tub of 50 baits for £5.99.
Final ThoughtsThe UKMA team have seen a lot of baits over the years and know a good bait when we see one. The Meteor falls into the "exceptional" bait sector, and is one that can be used for a wide variety of angling situations. The Meteor is equally at home being used on a river after Barbel or Chub as well as on a stillwater after old wary carp. All the products in the range perfectly supplement each other and there is no distinct change in aroma or taste when combined together. The Meteor range ticks all the boxes that an angler looks for when choosing a long term bait, and UKMA fully recommend that anglers check this range out.
