Pallatrax The Method "Whiskers Mix"

First Impressions

Groundbait is one of the staple baits used in pursuit of the largest specimens of an anglers quarry, and specialist manufacturer Pallatrax has catered for the specialist anglers requirements with a range of groundbaits suited to todays techniques and tactics.

The "Whiskers" range has been developed by Pallatrax and the team of consultants to suit the modern anglers requirement perfectly, and the first of the range that we will look at is the "Whiskers" Method Mix.

The "Whiskers" Method Mix has been developed to have a stickier than normal texture when mixed correctly so that it will not breakdown too quickly in fast flowing water. The "Whiskers" Method Mix is made up of natural ingredients that are nutritionally beneficial to the intended species (Barbel) and offers attraction that is second to none when used correctly. It is impossible to tell exactly what ingredients are included but there is inclusion of fishmeals, seeds, ground pellets amongst others.

Pallatrax recommend that 300ml of water to 1kg of dry "Whiskers" Method Mix should be more than suitable for most conditions, and upon mixing some up, we found that this was about right for all but the fastest flowing water.

Pallatrax also include a free Stonze weight in the 3kg buckets which make the perfect method feeder as well as giving an inconspicuous lead arrangement in clear water once the groundbait has come away. The 3kg buckets have a RRP of £11.95 with 1kg refill bags priced at £4.50.

Although it says "Whiskers" on the label and has been designed for the Barbel angler, we would have no problems in using this on a commercial carp water or when targetting Tench on stillwaters.

As the river season is now coming to a close, we will be putting this and other baits in the Pallatrax range through their paces fully once June comes around and the rivers re-open again.
