The River Season Has Finally Arrived

Take Advantage!!

June the 16th has been and gone to signal that most precious of days the official start to the years angling. These days it is a rare sight in most areas to see angler on your local river as still waters and commercial fisheries now run the roost. I for one still cherish that first walk of the new season, along the river with my float rod in hand and a box of worms or maggots in the other in search of anything that will take my bait, you just can’t beat it!

The first cast into the water with a waggler still gets that nervous excitement going in anticipation of your first bite of the new season, what will my first fish be? It’s the one emotion that never changes no matter how old you get. So to bring it back to you, the team at UKMA will be spending some serious hours on some of the countries finest rivers over the coming months, to try and illustrate just what so many of you are missing out on.

So watch this space as we spend some time on the day ticket stretches of the River Great Ouse in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire and the awesome River Trent in Nottinghamshire in search of big river species including roach, perch, bream, chub and barbel with some of the countries finest all-round specialist angler including Gardner Tackle’s & SonuBaits specialist supremo Alan Stagg.

When things turn real cold later in the year and nothing else is playing ball, UKMA will be spending some more quality time out on the bank with Fenland Predator maestro Mark Barrett. So take our advice, there are plenty of quality fish in the majority of our rivers. So forget about the 3lb test curve rods and get a float rod in your hands for a change and get that old buzz back that only a River session can give you.
