Living in a Bream World

UKMA have just received another notable catch report from Gardner Tackle Sonubaits backed rod Alan Stagg. Whilst fishing a 96 acre southern venue Alan landed five bream over a 48 hour session, with the best two fish weighing in at an impressive 11lb 1oz and 13lb 2oz.

Alan’s fish fell to balanced sweetcorn hook baits cast 40 yards out to a gravel hump. This area was baited with 20 litres of Sonubaits F1 groundbait, mixed with  brown crumb, a mixture of S-Pellets, 4mm Sonubaits pellets, crushed halibut pellets and sweetcorn. Alan's chosen tackle for the session consisted of 2 ½ lb test curve rods and the Daiwa Emblem big pit reels loaded with10lb Hydro Tuff mainline using the reels front drag to make the spool free running. This tackle may seem a little excessive for bream fishing but Alan explained it was essential to cope with the huge amount of weed in the venue and just in case one of the lakes many carp decided to put in an appearance, he would have enough power to comfortably cope. At the business end Alan used a 2 1/2oz inline lead, six inches of 15lb Trickster braided hooklength and a size 8 talon tip hook to fool these stunning fish.

Watch this space for more catch reports as Alan’s already impressive CV continues to grow.
