UKMA Team Member Lands Haul Of Specimen Rudd

UKMA team member, Alan Stagg has been in contact with us to let us know of his recent Rudd catch.

Alan said when asked;

"In three evening sessions at a 60 acre Southern Stillwater I managed 9 Rudd weighing over 2lbs the best a new PB weighing 2lb 13oz (the fish shown in the picture). "

"The fish fell to feeder fishing tactics casting 30 yards to a clear area surrounded by dense weed.  All fish fell to double white maggot popped up using a small piece of white foam.  Tackle consisted of Korum Multi Precision feeder rods, 6lb Hydro Flo mainline, 30 gram Preston maggot feeders, short 3 inch hook lengths made from 4lb Gardner Mirage fluorocarbon and a size 16 hook."

"Friday evening after a heavy down poor I managed the 2lb 13oz (a new PB) and was the first bite of the new season.  After a tench and a perch around 2lbs the wind changed and the swim went quiet.  Knowing the fish had moved I packed up my kit and moved to the other size of the lake about 11pm and managed 3 more 2lb (best 2lb 5oz) Rudd before the rain started again and it was time to head for home.  "

"On Saturday I had one fish weighing 2lbs 4oz.  Sunday evening I managed around 15 Rudd the best weighing 1lb 14oz, 1lb 14oz, 1lb 15oz, 2lb 0oz, 2lb 1oz, 2lb 4oz and 2lb 5oz."
