UKMA Team Member Lands Magnificent Tench

UKMA team member Alan Stagg has sent us yet another catch report , this time of a magnificent Tench that he had on a recent session. When UKMA spoke to Alan this is what he told us;

"The picture shows the best tench weighing 9lb 10oz.  It was part of a four fish catch during a 24 hour session at a 20 acre Oxfordshire gravel pit.  The other fish weighed 7lb 13oz, 8lb 4oz and an 8lb 11oz male. "

"The fish fell to maggots using an inline 50g feeder cast 20 yards to a clear area amongst weed.  I caught the fish over a mixture of maggots, Sonubaits 4mm Elliptical pellets and Sonubaits Hemp N Corn.  Tackle used consisted of 10lb Hydro Tuff mainline, 12 inches of 10lb Mirage fluorocarbon and a size 12 Talon Tip.  Spodding regularly over the top of the area and casting every 45 minutes helped keep the fish in the swim and due to this a couple of carp to low doubles also gate crashed the party. "

It was a good session and a nice way to get back into my fishing after last years Drennan Cup Campaign."
