Carp Craze PVA Mesh Refills

Anglers are always looking for value for money when it comes to purchasing PVA, and there seems to be a never ending list of suppliers all over the country offering deals on the product that anglers use a lot of.

At one of the recent shows, UKMA took a look at the Carp Craze PVA refills and took away a bundle to try out.

The Carp Craze PVA Mesh Refill kits are supplied in 20 metre packs and are available either pre-tubed in lengths or as a continuos 20m section. The pre-tubed refills are supplied in a pack of 4 tubes each with 5 metres of PVA pre-threaded. The pre-threaded tubes are perfect for quick and easy replacement into a protective plastic sleeve for those that already have purchased the original PVA mesh kit or own a competitors outer casing & plunger. The continuous 20 metre refills are supplied in a flip top dispenser, similar to those used for some baby wipes or car cleaning kits which protect the contents from moisture and sit nicely in the bottom of a bag for when required.

The PVA Refills are available in 3 different widths for making up different sizes of bags; 15mm wide Stik for creating perfect little sticks for long range work, 22mm wide Boilie for creating stringers or wider sticks and 35mm Wide for creating parcels of pellets or particles. Obviously the different widths can be used for whatever fits the situations that you may encounter during a session.

The price of the PVA refills depends on which form you purchase it in. The pre-tubed refills have a RRP of £11.99 for the 4 x 5m tubes, where as the continuous dispensers have a RRP of £19.99 per size but are on a "Buy One, Get One Free" deal if purchased through the Carp Craze website.

Final Thoughts

During testing we found that even in cold water, as well as water temperatures approaching 7C, the Carp Craze PVA Mesh dissolved completely leaving no residue. The knots took a few seconds longer to fully dissolve, but took no longer than other brands we have tested over the years. We have now started to test for PH levels on the PVA due to aquisition of new test kit, and the Carp Craze PVA Mesh had as close to a neutral PH level as is possible to detect. A taste test also showed that the PVA left no taste when allowed to dissolve in the mouth. This should give the angler the confidence required that the use of PVA should not create any danger signals to the fish. Overall the Carp Craze PVA passed all the tests that we put it through and should be considered highly on any anglers list when looking at purchasing refills.
