Coleman F1 Range
F1 Lite® Lantern & F1 Power® PZ Stove
Keeping things light and easy to carry is a requirement many of the new generation of carp anglers look for when selecting new cooking and lighting equipment. If they can boil a kettle and warm up a pasty with the cooker and create enough light in the bivvi to operate an iPhone then they are more than happy. However some of us like these compact cooker and lighting units to be practical accessories that we need to make our stay on the bank as comfortable as possible. So finding equipment that would satisfy the requirements of the majority of anglers has taken the team at UKMA some time but we are quite confident that the mega compact F1 Lite® Lantern & F1 Power® PZ Stove Range from outdoor pursuits equipment giants Coleman UK are products to tick all relevant boxes.

Gas powered Lanterns are now as rare a site on the bank as a cup in the Emirate Trophy cabinet. With battery powered head light now so cost effective to run and easy to buy, how do these clever little lanterns regain popularity in the current market place? There are two main reasons why you should always a gas powered Lantern over a head light. Firstly the level of control you have over the light source is far greater than you would ever get from a battery powered head light system. This level of control is made possible because you are using the release valve as a dimmer switch to create the perfect lighting for your requirements at any given time whilst out on the bank at night. Secondly, during winter the F1 Lantern performs a secondary task and performs perfectly as a reliable and practical heat source that can take the chill out of the most bitterly cold winter nights.
This compact Lantern performs two jobs for the price of one and to please the “How light can I travel massive” the F1 Lite® Lantern is possibly the lightest on the market weighing in at only 77g. It comes supplied in a textile carry pouch incorporates a lightweight protection cylinder for added protection, not that its now required, as coleman have binned the fragile glass bowl in favour of a stiff mesh which allows you to just chuck it in your bag without having to wrap it in a sleeping bag. The new style Mesh Globe is described by Coleman’s as “Unbreakable” and allows easier access to the mantle. To make ignition a controlled affair, you have a large wire handle to control gas flow which can be easily used even with thick gloves on. The F1 Lite® Lantern is an excellent tool for the night session angler and for the meagre price of around £24.99 you get a very handy lighting and heating option. The Coleman Exponent F1 Power PZ is a stove that can punch well above its weight. This small and compact unite is the size of a kitten but roars like a lion. There are four support arms for extra pan stability and they surround the over sized wide flame head to offer a better boil performance. The stove gains its stabillity by cleverly using a Lock Ring to keep everything solid and reliable at all times. Coleman’s have also included a piezo (PZ) ignition that is instant and reliable, even in strong winds. With all the for-mentioned combined you have a compact stove that is capable of heating the largest of pans economically and most importantly safely!
The F1 Power® PZ has is a very good entry level stove that has the oomph of a Rhino and the control of a surgeon. By including four arms for extra pan stability and a well designed locking ring to keep them in place during use this has produced one of the safest compact stoves I have personally come across. The F1 Power PZ can be used with the 100, 250 and 500 sized gas canisters and is ideal for the angler who likes to keep it small but requires a high level of performance without breaking the bank. The F1 Power® PZ stove should cost you around the £28.99 but as per usual there are many great deals currently available on line so shop around to save a few quid.
