Custom Angling SolutionsAluminium RangeNew for 2011
Custom Angling Solutions aren’t just another manufacturer of stainless steel rod supports. This midlands based company has over the past few years built up a cult following by supplying anglers who like to use equipment custom built to there own personal requirements. Over the coming months UKMA will be taking you through the full range of rod support, bank sticks and butt grips options this established brand has to offer. To get things up and running, the team at UKMA have been having a good look at the latest addition to the Custom Angling Solutions product list for 2011, the Aluminium Range of Bank Sticks and buzz bars, here’s the facts. Quality MaterialsCustom Angling Solutions take great pride in producing a range of products that are manufactured using only the finest materials. The Stainless bank sticks, buzz bars and all stainless fixture and fittings are made from 316 grade stainless steel. This grade is in the opinion of company MD Jamie Simpson far superior to 303 and 304 grades more commonly used (303 for bar and fittings and 304 for the tube as 303 tube is not available). UKMA asked Jamie why he uses this grade of Stainless, he replied “The 316 grade is used on North Sea oil rigs and is exposed to a salt water environment and it is far more resistant to chemicals and long term deterioration. People may claim it is over kill to use this material, but I want people to still be using my gear in 30 years time”. The Aluminium used in the manufacturing of the latest range for 2011 is 6082 grade Aluminium which has been chosen for its durability and all round strength. Rather than giving the Aluminium a powder coated which is renowned for scratching and chipping once it has been used a couple of time. Jamie has chosen to give this range of products a hard anodised finish which is more commonly used in the motorsport industry on race bikes (BSB, Moto GP) etc. This durable outer coating toughens the surface of the material, which in turn greatly increasing its strength. As a big plus it also gives the Custom Angling Solutions Aluminium buzz bars and bank sticks a stylish matt black appearance which will definitely attract attention from the angling public.
Anodised Aluminium Two Rod Buzz Bars RRP £45.00
To get the range of the ground, Custom Angling solutions have released two and three rod buzz bar options as standard. Both options come as a front and rear buzz bar set that incorporate Stainless steel male threaded bolts that are securely fitted into the base of the buzz bars centre spigots to allow attachment to your bank sticks. The retaining spigot that hold your alarms and butt rest securely have a precisely engineered 3/8" BSF standard thread which is 100% compatible with all butt rests and alarms currently available on the U.K market.
This two rod Buzz bar set up is the perfect option for all the tackle tarts who like there rods to sit in comfort. The anodised outer coating gives these very light weight buzz bars a greenish/black appearance which makes them really at home on the bank when fully loaded with your rods, alarms etc. The two rod set up has a 170mm wide rear bar and a 195mm wide rear bar. Even with big pit reels fitted these well made buzz bars still gives you enough room to manoeuvre your rods in position but still allow your rods to sit close enough together to keep your set up looking ultra carpy.

The three rod set offers the session angler stability, function and quality to match many other respected top brands. The three rod option has all the features of the two rod set up (as mentioned above) but really this one is for the serious session angler who likes a touch of class about his set up. The rear buzz bar measures in at a 285mm wide and the front buzz bar measure in at 300mm wide. The Aluminium three rod buzz bars offer a reasonable amount of room to move your rods around when fully loaded and when used in conjunction with the all new Aluminium bank stick, they form a solid platform for your rods to sit on securely. Top Tip both the above buzz bars can be made to your own personal specifications. All you have to do is decide how wide you want them, how many rods you want then to accommodate and what extra fixtures and fitting you require and Jamie will do the rest. With optional spirit levels in a choice of red or green, pre drilled and threaded spigots to fix your indicators to eliminate the need for hockey sticks being just a few of the options available from this innovative one man company. Anodised Aluminium Banksticks RRP £25.00 each
Now these are a bit special to say the least. These very stylish bank sticks totally compliment the Anodises Aluminium Buzz Bar range perfectly. These cleverly designed banksticks have a stainless steel 3/8 BSF threaded top which is fixed to the internal anodised extension tube. This is held in place by a lever thumb screw which is located on the Stainless collar that fixed to the on the top of the outer anodised tubing of the bankstick. At the bottom of each bankstick you have a stainless pointed thread that is designed to make light work of pushing your banksticks into hard or rocky ground and they works incredibly well. The Custom Angling Solutions Anodised banksticks measure from top to tip 340mm when fully closed up but they can be extended to a maximum of 520mm if required.
Final ThoughtsTo be totally honest coated aluminium of any description has been one of those things in angling that when taking into consideration the environment is going to be used in very rarely stands up to the test of time. However, the tough anodised coating used on the Aluminium Three Rod Buzz Bars and Aluminium Banksticks has lasted pretty well to date. After 5 sessions, all stainless fitting and anodising still looks as good as new with only minor scratches at the base of the banksticks where it has entered hard ground and hit rocks. Add zero signs of any rust on any of the stainless, even the screw point that goes into the ground is only showing minimal wear and tear, and what you have is a top quality rod support system that won’t let your down. For just £95.00 you can get yourself a two rod buzz bar system and for £110.00 you can kit yourself out with a top of the range three rod buzz bar system that will look and perform as good as any of the Custom Angling Solutions leading competitors. The very last thing I will say about Anodised Aluminium range is “built in the United Kingdom, by an Englishman for UK angling situations” . Makes ya proud!!
