Sussex Carping

By

Clive Williams

A lot of anglers from all disciplines of the sport, may be mistaken by looking at the title and thinking that this book is just about carp fishing waters exclusively. When we were told that we were recieving a copy to review, we thought the exact same, but upon reading through the book, we thought that this book would be of use to all coarse anglers as a lot of the waters within the book were more than just carp only venues.

Clive Williams has been around the angling industry for a long time, and is highly respected by his peers. As Clive lives in Sussex, he decided to put together a comprehensive guide to angling in the county. The book covers syndicates, day ticket waters, club waters and rivers, canals & drains within the area with an in-depth guide to all of them. Contact details, size of fish, prices, details of the waters are all covered within the guide for each of the venues.

In between some of the sections, there are also guest chapters from some of Sussex's successful anglers as well as from Clive himself. On some of the waters featured, Clive has asked high profile anglers such as Martin Locke, Danny Fairbrass, Ian Chillcott, Albert Romp and others for one line tips which all carp or session anglers would find handy.

The book itself is of a paperback design and has been printed on high quality paper, with high quality images and text. Font size and type is clear and easy to read, even if you wear glasses.

If you plan to fish in Sussex fairly often or fancy a change of area, then this book is worth purchasing for reference purposes and holidays in the County are also covered with a section covering the waters that cater for families that fancy an angling holiday. Over 200 venues are covered within the pages so you are sure to find the perfect venue to suit and with a RRP of £12, it is a bargain for the Southern angler.

Freebird Publishing also have a limited number of hardback copies of this book which are priced at £55 each.

All in all, the book was a good read and opened my eyes to a number of venues nearby to friends which we visit regularly. These venues may be getting a visit in the new year. If you know an angler that travels the country for their angling purposes, then this book would be a welcome addition to their Christmas stocking this year.
