NISA FEEDERS

"BIG PIG" River Feeders

Nisa feeders have been manufacturing and developing feeders and accessories for the British angler for many years. What they don’t know about feeders and feeder fishing isn’t worth knowing. So we contacted Nisa Feeders MD Nick Larkin and asked him to send a selection of Feeders suited to the demands of the Specialist angler who fish Powerful and flooded rivers and require a feeder that can hold bottom in the heaviest of flows.

Nick sent UKMA a selection of feeders called “BIG PIGS” these are designed with the above angling situations in mind. These feeder are built to last, they are more than capable of handling the massive pressure that they will be put under when in a fish playing situation. Add to the mix that they also have the strength to be cast fully loaded with feed anything up to 60yds to far bank cover, so you can be sure these feeders are serious pieces of kit.

By using a feeder that has enough weight to hold bottom, even when the river is in full flood conditions, this gives the angler total control over the area that the feed is being deposited into. By eliminating the movement of the feeder this will greatly increase the possibility of fish being caught even in water conditions that would be unfishable when using conventional lighter feeder tactics. So here are the feeder options available in the Nisa Feeder Big Pig Range.

Big Pig Open End Feeder

When you want your feed to disperse quickly the open end feeder is the number one choice for most anglers.

These feeders carry enough weight to hold bottom on just about any river in flood conditions and more that cope with normal heavy flow situations.

Available in two sizes, Medium (60g, 90g) and Large (90g, 120g) and they carry an RRP of £1.80.

Big Pig Blockend River Feeders

As with all of the Nisa blockend feeders, the Big Pig incorporates a "powergum" link through the centre, which not only allows fast and easy filling of the feeder, but it also acts primarily as a basic shock leader, preventing these heavy feeders from cracking of on the cast.

Available in Small (90g, 120g), Medium (90g, 120g) and Large (90g, 120g) and they sell for the RRP of £1.85

Big Pig In-Line Blockend River Feeders

Presenting hookbaits on short hooklengths has become the "in vogue" method on many of our river systems for catching big Chub and Barbel.

The In-Line Blockend feeder offers the angler potential to try numerous variations in presentation not possible with the conventional Blockend feeder.  A feature that I have to applaud is the use of diamond eyed swivels on this feeder; they simply eliminate line twist on shorter hooklengths, which is essential when fishing big baits in medium to fast water.

Available in Small (90g, 120g) Medium (90g, 120g) and Large (90g, 120g) and they sell for the RRP of £1.85.

SAFETY WARNING!

When using feeders between 2 and 4 ounces unloaded ensure that your rods, reels lines and terminal tackle are capable of handling these excessive casting weights comfortably. Inadequate and unbalanced tackle could potentially lead to crack offs when casting which could cause serious injury to you or others around you

Final Thoughts

Although massed produced, I found the overall manufacture of the Nisa Big Pig River Feeders to be top notch. The use of diamond eyed swivels on the Blockend In-Line was a quality idea that I first came across when match fishing a few years back. One little thing that I’m not 100% sure on, is the use of the nitrile rings incorporating an american snap swivel to take the full impact of numerous heavy casts and hard fighting fish. This is the only niggle I have with these feeders and one I will keep my eye on as I get them out on the rivers come June the 16th, Watch this space.
